Monongahela Poems by Ward/Lewandowski

This collaboration began many years ago when I was first captivated by the songs of Alan Lewandowski. I was living in Alabama and he was living in New York. I thought, and still think, that he's a genius.
When I moved to Pittsburgh in 2020, my room had a view of the Monongahela River and I started writing love poems both to it and the city of Pittsburgh.
A river is a symbol of longing, yearning, and seasons. The Monongahela is delightfully elusive, but I feel that Alan, Nancy and I have caught something of the spirit of it in words and music.
