Vicious Echo by Viva Vertigo

The third album was started in 2007 and finished up in 2008. Two different studios were used and a lot of care was taken to get the sounds just right. It is indeed the most rocking album of the three albums the band has released so far. The rock songs are quite dirty fuzzy and pulls no punches to burst out of the speakers. The prettier songs are more sophisticated and dynamic than ever before - Lise Cabble was recalled from the 2nd album "Vulcan Gas Company" to sing on 4 songs. Incl. 2 duets! Simon Beck produced again and co-wrote the track "Chandra Lee" with Lise Cabble. The band had a cover song on for the first time and old demo from that the danish band Psyched Up Janis didn't record "properly" for any of their albums. Simon was such a fan of the song that he had made a demo of it already in 1999 and the arrangement was kept from that demo. Sara Lewis Sørensen had developed a fondness for taking a violin bow to the strings and does so on final track "Vicious K.O." - she overdubbed a lot of droning guitars on that one for a hypnotizing effect. Bassist Anders Wallin pulled out his old mini moog from the 70's and got osme really dirty sounds on the same song. Drummer Kristoffer Sonne experimented with layers of two drum sets playing at once apparent on "the desert slow groove song "Slinky Pretty Song" and further bringing in loops and overdubbed them with live drums.

Scorpio K.O. was the first single from the album - a hard hitting riff driven monster with a lyric that raises a few eyebrows - the song got picked for a danish major mowie "Lille Soldat" (2008) which won the competition in Berlin Filmfestival same year. A movie about Traficking in the dark corners of Denmark. Again Danish radio played both 1. single and the two following "Walk All Over You" and "Wild Flames Of Love". There are a lot catchy tunes on this album - signed to Target in Denmark for this 3rd album everybody couldn't really decide which songs should be singles. Touring in Denmark lasted into 2010 with both fellow danish acts The Blue Van, Powersolo and a lot of solo shows.

The album proved to be the last of the moniker Viva Vertigo. The band released a single digitially "Volcano Echo" with some leftovers from the 3rd album sessions in the spring of 2010. For the rest of 2010-11 Simon Beck joined forces with Magten Korridorer singer Johan Olsen for a side project "Retox Panic" and he produced and co-wrote their album "This City Burns". released by Universal in spring 2011. The touring went on to 2012. In 2015 Retox Panic released a single again for a Major Danish movie called "Kartellet". Since then Simon Beck has had a long rest from the music industry and are on the verge of releasing new music in 2020 with a new musical project. Phantom Wolf. They played a few shows in 2015 and then disappeared into the studio to record songs. Taking their sweet time. They finished up an albums worth of material. Ready for 2020.
