Painting Stations by Vinyl Jacket
Monday 21 February will see the release of the debut single from Wylam’s Vinyl Jacket, the track Painting Stations will also be the first record released through a brand new independent label The Calico Print.
Vinyl Jacket have had an impressive first 12 months that has seen them become one of Tom Robinson’s favourite new bands, headline the BBC Introducing stage at In The City and receive regular airplay on 6 Music and this single that perfectly matches their cerebral, sharp and danceable sound with their romantic and escapist lyrics looks set to see them build in stature and excite human neurons across the globe.
The band’s sound takes the New Wave of Talking Heads, the Afrobeat of Fela Kuti and combines it with the Indie Pop of Vampire Weekend and the Art Rock of Everything Everything. The band members' background in musical theatre has influenced their unique live performance and is the root of their stunning harmonies and boundless energy.
The release is backed by an exclusive B-side His Delicate Brain and a Mammal Club remix of Painting Stations. The release also features special artwork from Emilee Seymour (Biffy Clyro, Matches) and is accompanied by a video from director Matt Brown (Little Comets) both of which perfectly fit the band’s aesthetics.
The Calico Print is a new label based in the North East of England set up by Bob Allan from Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire. The label will release music from the wealth of talented and undiscovered artists in the region with a DIY work ethic inspired by labels such as Arts & Crafts, SST & Dischord.
