‘Moving Rearwards‘ is a sound metaphor for a broken mirror, the pieces of which are eternally trying to reunite. Even though the mirror is metaphorical and represents ephemeral memories from the long-forgotten days, it causes real physical pain.

In this release you will immediately recognise both of the artists: phantasmal melodies and lyrics from ummsbiaus, originally written in 2021-2022, combined together with profound sounds from 58918012, ambient musician from Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine.

the sample that i’ve been hiding in every one of my songs since Melnychka, my very first release, is the sound of glass, performed with my watery fingers back in December 2021. since then, i’ve placed it in every track as a foundation, so glass can without doubt be called ummsbiaus’ signature sound. for more than a decade, i’ve lived with a very unpleasant feeling in my chest – a sensation i call the feeling of broken glass. it feels like sharp shards are scratching me from the inside. i feel it when i experience care, kindness, sympathy, love, tenderness; but also when i’m in pain, hatred, disgust, disappointment or rage. any shift away from neutral emotion brings back the glass. i’m pretty sure you’ll hear its sharpness in these songs too.
