Phenakism by Concealment

We already established that Concealment were somewhat ahead of their time when they brought back the sound of gorgutsian Death Metal in the late 2000s, long before it took the underground by storm all over again.

And with 'Phenakism', they doubled down on the genre's trademarks while dialing back their rather untypical clean vocals to an absolute minimum.

Concealment also upped the string count of their guitars to 8, but the real kicker is that the band is utilizing a 9-string bass guitar, which actually creates a lot of the detailed layers that could easily be mistaken for a second guitar.

Mastering such demanding instruments and creating such an equally inspired, yet forward-thinking sound required a (criminally overlooked) talent that we hope to shed some light on with this digital rerelease.
