Oh life is unfair
When you're left to fend for your share
Work those fingers to the bone, till your feeble body wears and tears
I tired starting again, felt like a snake shedding it’s skin
And there’s a storm comin’ around the bend
you all better beware

This lonesome shadow follows me
I can’t escape this pain and misery

The black ravens follow as I wander this valley
And the coyotes howl out mocking my despair
I’m a man out of bounds, filled with regret, and no family
Caught in the compass of death living without a prayer

Everywhere I go
I cast this shadow
Preacher man can’t say for sure but he thinks
something is wrong with my soul
Seems I’ve been down this road, a thousand times before
I’m familiar with where it leads,
but I’m not sure if I’m ready to go
