5trumentals by Chi

The first release from our new imprint, NIBI, "5trumentals" by Chi is a meditation in melody, purposefully trance-like, with strong backbeats, minimal instrumentation and ambient, found sounds.
Chi is the middle name of Stephane Detchou, AKA Brother GoodLove and lead singer and creative force behind DC funk with soul band Everyday Everybody. Chi is his solo venture into holding more personal musical spaces, and bringing the audience to a deeper level of listening, inviting you to find your own meaning from the words and music offered.
NIBI, "Nothing Is Built Independently", will be featuring Detchou's creations and curations, expanding on the cultural significance of the Kola nut in his paternal Cameroonian culture, fostering and encouraging art that is healing, and one that brings people together in unity, love, peace, kindness, and gratitude. This first EP is a selection of instrumentals to signal and set the tone for what's to come.

Chi blends soul, folk, funk, and afro-acoustic rhythm into songs that are both intimate and expansive. With poetic lyricism, deep groove, and a voice rooted in memory and movement, his music explores love, identity, and shared humanity—inviting listeners into a sound that stirs both heart and body.
