“Rilke used to say that no poet would mind going to gaol, since he would at least have time to explore the treasure house of his memory. In many respects Rilke was a prick.” This quote from Clive James became very relevant in the past eighteen months, since most of us have been under house arrest.

Personally, I've had a very productive time, which makes me feel like a war profiteer. Oskar Schindler without the humanitarianism.

All of these songs were written since the start of the pandemic, and I think my new material will surprise a lot of people. Especially people who thought my stuff couldn't get any more tasteless.

The songs broadly fall into three categories. The ones where I say exactly what I really think, put it to an upbeat melody and hope people don't get too pissed off ('Epiphany', 'Satire'); ones where I play a character whose behaviour I don't condone ('Cheap Hotel', 'Manchester's Creepy Uncle'); and ones that tell stories that get uncomfortably close to the truth.
