The shadow of ferns and alder trees
fall upon the racing water,
shaping the depth of things.
Fir needles skim, spin upon the surface.
Lichen tumbles just below.
Small round stones are held in motion
by the constant sounding waters,
Defining the sound of the glade
where I lay.
Here the secrets are gifted,
I hear them furrow and turn.
