Wait 2024 by Strange Talking Animals
an album of layers and sections- of glimpses in time and memory. written between January 27 and April 28, 2024.
the first two tracks were pre-FAWM 2024. The next four were written post-FAWM 2024 for the Creation Station prompts. And the last three were in the ether. Yet, the first four tracks were recorded at the old uranium playpen and the last five were recorded in Vault 9. Both in the Dungeons.
The three people that influenced me the most, musically, are now in the ether. My Mom. David Bowie. And Shawn. I choose to imagine them out there, intermingling.
I don't know what is going on at any given moment, but when I listen to these songs, I have ideas. I have moments of clarity and confusion. The meanings change while lingering on the exact.
Earth, Fire, Water, Sky (air), and Ether.
I lost Shawn first. Then, along with the entire Universe, I lost David Bowie. And last year, I lost my Mom. There are strange parallels and currents that lie beneath and connect all three. I can honestly say that I am lost, but I am trying to find a path. A story. A connection.
The world is a really weird, fucking trip. I'm in, but I haven't a clue as to what I'm doing.
As always, this is for Benjamin and Melissa.
I really do hope my Mom is hanging out with David Bowie and Shawn.
