Despite the most challenging times in our recent history — from the pandemic to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine — new talents have emerged on our dance floors. Nature always finds its way, and our newcomers continue to flourish, finding fertile ground to grow.

Standard Deviation, the in-house label of Kyiv’s renowned club ∄, is excited to present SUCCESSION, a V/A compilation showcasing the new wave of Ukrainian electronic scene. Set for release in November, this compilation features 10 tracks from 10 artists, each hailing from different regions of Ukraine. Their sounds reflect the club's ethos — a space where artists have found a sense of belonging.

SUCCESSION opens with shjiva’s dreamy, psychedelic trance wanderings, moving into Native Outsider’s unapologetic take on balance disorder, which will leave listeners dizzy. From there, the energy intensifies with BADWOR7H & SVZZ’s nod to UK bass, complete with surreal synths and nerdy breaks, and Inertia’s banging dub techno cuts. Panghoud then brings unexpected baile funk grooves in Kiki — where did he find these Brazilian rhythms while serving at the Ukrainian frontline? The album closes with undo despot’s tender piano melodies, enriched with apocalyptic vocals that feel like a dream of Odesa’s port.

The cover art by Mila Kostiana features a glass block from the ∄ façade, breathing life into the space and producing new organisms like sprouts and mushrooms, symbolizing ecological succession. Even in the most uncertain moments, movement, light, and sweat bring new life behind the glass windows.
