Each water workout has vocal instruction accompanied by music, making these workouts easy to follow and fun. They can be used by yourself or with a group. The workouts include a warm up, musculoskeletal, aerobic and cool down exercise. These exercises are designed to improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and contribute to an individual's total physical fitness. Some advantages to exercising in water are: 1) Your body weighs much less in the water due to buoyancy, making it easier on joints and muscles. 2) Water pressure and friction gently increase circulation as if you had put your whole body in one big support stocking. This helps blood and fluids circulate from the extremities to the body, thus reducing swelling or pooling of blood and fluid in the extremities. 3) Water increases resistance to your bodies natural movements. Therefore, it takes more force and strength to move quickly in water. 4) Water conducts heat away from the body almost twenty-five times faster than air, cooling your body as you exercise and burning more calories. 5) These exercises are great for those that are overweight, arthritic, and/or have musculoskeletal and circulation problems. 6) Less stress on the body equals less muscle stiffness and soreness. 7) Most importantly, water aerobics are a fun way to exercise!
