Sat down and wrote this about my Dad. He is very much alive but since moving away suddenly I've found it difficult to talk to him, which is I think the same way for a lot of people. It's the first song I've written in ages. I remember an incident when I was maybe 14 or 15 and my Dad wouldn't offer me a beer after a long day because I was a girl, and my Ma asked him if it'd be the same if I was his son and not his daughter. My Dad is super supportive and loving and caring and kind, and is a feminist in his own way. He may not know the praxis but he's always supported me. Another memory I have is of him taking me and my older sister out in the eye of a cyclone because we'd been cooped up in the house for days. I don't know why I have Missy Higgins level Australian accent in this song but I do.
