Drugs and the experimental side of music have traveled together since the birth of Jazz and continue to be partnered on some level to this day. Art and especially musical Artistic expression is almost always informed by experiences, so people reaching for new forms of music often looked to alternative forms of experience for that information. Without judgement or endorsement of chemical alteration of consciousness, it's important to be open to music as it's own way of bringing you to a different place.
