today, brianna ghey, a transgirl in the UK, was announced dead via stabbing. she was relentlessly bullied for being openly trans. this world is ugly and broken, and innocent trans lives are being snuffed out at an alarming rate every single year because we're denied basic human rights and recognition for our identity. she was fucking 16. sixteen. born in 2007. how many of us have to die before we are granted the ability to live? recorded this song a few minutes ago. not that it even matters, but this has affected me greatly and i was crying right before recording this. i handle my grief and my despair in writing and recording songs, so now this exists. i am not trying to fetishize or profit off of her death. every family's grief is different, and i can't even begin to know the pain that her family and friends are under right now.
rest in peace, brianna. i never knew you, but i know you didn't deserve to die. i hope you're finding some form of peace. wherever you are out there.
