Wasp by SANSOUNI

A fan of SANSOUNI's music since his track 'On' via the V/A Modern Intimacy Volume 2 in 2022, CARISTA invites the emerging producer, DJ and artist back into the far-reaching world of United Identities.

The title track 'Wasp' opens on a warbling bassline followed by a raw, left-field note of percussion and crispy vocals. It is lead by the khisba drum, known as zanbour ("wasp" in Arabic) which is widely used in traditional Iraqi music. On 'Park', SANSOUNI merges rugged drum'n'bass beats with dreamy pads, culminating in a driving yet emotional trip. The closing track 'Wa Al-Uyoon' is a beautiful blend of soaring, trance-tinted synthlines and urgent drums, punctuated by organic percussive textures and quick-fire vocal cuts.

Sparking feelings of hope and joy but shaded with a melancholic hue, the EP showcases SANSOUNI's fluidity in balancing bright textures with misty, cinematic atmospheres.
