This was my first pandemic fiddle tune, written in the spring of 2020 while I was living in Walla Walla finishing up school at Whitman College. Most mornings I would sit on my porch and play my fiddle tuned down to F. One day I wrote this melody but couldn’t figure out how to end it. I Facetimed Riley Calcagno and he reassured me it’s okay to just keep going back to the four chord! Never resolve! I named it for an underheralded North Carolina fiddler whose recordings I encountered during that time named Queen Belle Honeycutt Randolph.
