Myopic Genepool by Sad Algae
The project Sad Algae started when Ben and I were in a band together and we were sending song ideas to each other, however the songs didn't fit our current band's sound at the time, so we decided to create a recording project to document these song ideas, there were periods of time when our band wasn't doing much due to unreliable members causing practices to be cancelled so we would work on these songs. Whenever the band wasn't doing much, Ben and I would just get together in a shit little room and go "Oh yeah, I've been messing with this riff..." and that's it!?
When you have creativity running through your blood you just want to create something meaningful to you, regardless of the amount of success it may receive, it's in the world now, an entity of sound. And that to me is very special.
This particular EP was a home recording that me and Ben put together by sending files to each other, although not the best quality recording-wise it gives you a good idea of what we were trying to convey.
