From program;

Being true to one’s self is more difficult than it may seem. So many other factors go into who we are, how we present ourselves to the world, how we act, what we chose. From the fear of how we may be perceived, to the ramifications of being open about yourself to a world who has decided you are undesirable - or even an enemy. I’ve struggled a lot with this, in many facets of my identity, but namely in music and my gender. Art and self are close concepts. Humans create from a sense of self, and art can be a vessel for others to understand each other. In the same token, being vulnerable in both capacities is scary, and draining, depleting. I’ve been horrified to properly express myself in either sense. I’d like to believe this concert, this work, to be some of my most unfiltered expression to date. Thank you for listening.
