Sprouted Heart by Quinn EarthChild

Sprouted Heart is an ode to the spellbinding feeling of falling in love so deeply that you feel like your heart could burst.

My synaesthesia at the time filled me with visions of the fresh growth and blooming wild roses, waves of warm sunshine in winter and a feeling that all of my love could pour out over the person I loved like honey filled with stars.

Love isn't always sunshine and wild roses though, and that's why I use the metaphor of a seed having to break in half in order to sprout and grow, because love can ache like one’s heart is breaking in two.

Sprouted Heart was one of the first songs I ever wrote, and the first I wrote on a classical Guitar all the way back in 2018. I simultaneously wrote the poem (which quickly became the song) and created a piece of artwork illustrating my visions.

The original artwork didn't make the album cover because I wanted embrace how my ideas of love and my artistic abilities have grown since then. But the artwork is still on my Instagram and still available as a print to anyone interested.

The design on the cover is the same design I have gold leafed onto my current classical guitar. I needed this song to finally make it out into the world before releasing my newer work.

Everything I have written today started here, and I feel like this has become a touch stone to how I see life. Sometimes growing hurts a little, but it’s worth it in the end. I hope you all enjoy!!
