Using Joan La Barbra’s Singing Alphabet from Sesame Street (c 1977) as an inspiration I asked 10 lovely vocal artists (quickly dubbed the vowel ensemble) to contribute a reading or improvised vocal performance based on blurb I had written about the letters A,E, I, O, U.
I combined the readings/performances forming a continuous piece. Mixing was done in a single take, keeping the spirit of the reading/performance alive within the boundaries of any extra sound manipulation I added.
The Vowel Ensemble are, in order: Duncan Harrison, Mu Extraordinaire, Stuart Arnot, Su Fitzpatrick, Ben Knight, Hannah Ellul, Andy Wild, Rachel Green, Joe Posset and Malory Maki
Idea, writing & sound mixing: Joe Posset
Originally released on Soundholes in 2018 with three other tracks but it seems to be sold out and I can't find the original tracks anywhere. This is all that survives.
