Circusverse by Phantom Scimitar
Circusverse is the first album release by Phantom Scimitar. It is a contemplative journey through the metaphorical circus that is our universe. This album sits firmly in the retro psychedelic rock genre, comparable stylistically to early Pink Floyd, but with a unique sound. Anchored by corpulent drum beats, harmonic guitars wail and intertwine like ivy forming a dendritic web that supports wide eldritch vocals while bass and moog swirl, mixing a spectral concoction occasionally punctuated by the tinkle of bells. Circusverse is both positive and negative in tone, profound and self-indulgent, sensitive and virile, as is the duality of the universe it explores. For best results, listen to the entire album at one sitting, late at night, medium high volume, on a hi-fidelity stereo audio system, and an open mind.
