Luminpeal by Ourson
Luminpeal (Chime Of Light) was recorded in 2015 as a meditation piece for my mother's church. later reworked/extended and released on Dec 8 2018; my mother's birthday, and coincidentally, the one year anniversary of my father's death. this is a song for healing and for honoring both my parents in different ways: this meditation piece was created for and inspired by my mother because of her desire for more uplifting music from me. i've always wanted to write a more traditional and positive-sounding meditation piece for her. upon reworking the piece 3 years later, i am also reminded of imagery from a time i spent talking with my father; sitting in his trailer one evening, surrounded by plants, a stray cat named Kopi and beams of light scattering through crystal suncatchers hanging in the window, casting rainbows on our silhouettes, dancing shadows on the walls. a simple joy spent in thoughtlessness, immortalized in my minds eye, and in my heart, where i am forever able to return: to the place where the light still shines on our smiling faces.
