HYPNAGOGIA / HYPNOPOMPIA by One Empty Toybox

This music album is not a typical compilation of music, but instead a collection of ideas turned composition through loose collaboration between my unconscious and subconscious selves brought to our reality through the generous and significant contributions of time and talent of Nicholas J. Viltrakis. Projects like this take a great deal of creative energy and drive to succeed.

As a listener, I want you to experience this album as an evolution and a story from beginning to end. We started with the first song and eventually created the entire album with each piece informing the process for the next. For me this journey will have taken over two years to complete, but for you a single listen through will be less than thirty minutes. As I am writing this, I find this apropos (and it makes me smile), because the world of dreams also skews time and space in a similar way. The process is not perfect; there is always something lost in translation and the original idea will never be the same as the finished product.

These are only some of the ideas I’ve managed to share between my conscious and subconscious self. I sincerely hope you enjoy the songs as much as I did composing them and bringing them into the reality we share. If you’re interested I promise you there will be more.

In high school, I rediscovered a friendship and we started playing and recording music together as One Empty Toybox. We've been doing the same ever since under various names, because we are driven to create.
