JetStream by Noise Reduction Society

The jet stream arcs north across the pacific and follows the coast south from Alaska. It carries the winds from the East and drops its moisture on the ridges of the mountains and the fields of the plains. At altitudes of 10 to 15 miles, it moves at speeds often exceeding 250 miles per hour.

Once while traveling west towards the ocean, I looked down upon the ridges and valleys of the clouds below and was reminded of the strength of unseen forces. the mountains and vapors of clouds and the invisible winds represented to me layers of reality always present but sometimes hidden until a change of perception uncovers them.

Some of these tracks are component elements of multimedia music and theatre compositions that have evolved over a period of sometimes several years; layers transformed by a growing understanding of being, of my own, and of these works. The digital audio combines with live performers, projections, and theatrical staging. The elements are intended to function both collectively and individually, as complete entities that are also part of a grander whole.

The album was originally compiled and mastered on my NeXT in the winter of 1996 and 1997. In April, 2000, I made a new version of the album with additional tracks. These are included here.
