24 Miniatures by Nicolas Bougaïeff

24 Miniatures is a dreamy electro album of short tracks that is bare-bones yet compellingly cinematic. A project from the archives, the album was curated in 2012 from hundreds of daily improvisations recorded that year.

Each miniature lays out its theme with crystalline clarity, evaporating before any development blemishes the reduction of musical form. With a delicate touch of psychedelia, the sound palette consists of little more than a Minimoog and an 808. If Blade Runner were to be remade as a one man electronica show on the scale of a ship in a bottle, 24 Miniatures would be well fitting as the atomic soundtrack.

The album inspired visual artist Elena Guyader to create a series of artworks, one corresponding to each miniature. Animator Ruben Cohen created a video based on Guyader's Miniature 3 - Laserhead.
