Enerhomor by ummsbiaus

Enerhomor is an experimental project and sound performance by ummsbiaus, an electronic musician from Kyïv. This project evolved from field recordings, mainly crunchy, electrical sounds partly recorded at the beginning of the war at the outskirts of Kyïv, which form an overall image of cruel attacks aiming to destroy Ukrainian infrastructure.

Nights in complete darkness drag on slowly. Silent Kyïv cloaked in darkness, breathes frostily and almost soundlessly. Only occasionally the old transformer screeches with its hum. The voice in the receiver sings a lullaby, but the connection gradually disappears. The meter crackles sluggishly, and here and there the eyes-lamps light up. As suddenly a hideous buzzing is heard, and a feeling of insecurity covers the body and mind. And abruptly, the air is compressed, after an explosion thud, tearful signals howl. The city freezes.

Enerhomor is an experiment with electric current. The musical linen is embroidered with light and dark sounds: the cold trembling of a overheated transformer, the indifferent clatter of a meter, a gentle voice that whispers through communication jamming, decreasing signal-to-noise ratio, the tight air after an explosion, the echo of eerie signals, flashes and shadows that have a whimsical nature.

You can't hear the darkness, but its grainy textures make you look into the burning eyes of electric transformers while listening to their crackling music.

Enerhomor sounds like shelling of infrastructure, as an echo of genocide against an entire nation. However, this flame is destined to flow only in our veins, because the fire does not burn the hardened.

Енергомор – експериментальний проект та звуковий перформанс ummsbiaus, електронної музикантки з Києва. Цей проект розвинувся із деяких філдрекордінгз, переважно хрустких, електричних звуків, частково записаних на початку війни у передмісті Києва; деякі були записані пізніше у Литві. Всі ці звуки формують у слухача образ жорстоких атак із метою знищення української інфраструктури.

Ночі в суцільній темряві тягнуться повільно. Німий Київ, що поринув у пітьму, дихає морозно та майже безшумно. Лише подеколи своїм наспівом скрегоче старий трансформатор. Голос у слухавці співає колискову, але зв’язок поступово зникає.
Мляво тріскає лічильник, і де-не-де запалюються очі-ліхтарі. Як раптом чується обридливе дзижчання, і відчуття незахищеності охоплює тіло і розум. Ураз повітря стискається, і слідом за глухим розривом, чуються сльозливі сигнали. Місто завмирає.

Енергомор – це експеримент зі струмом. Музичне полотно гаптоване світлими та темними звуками: холодним дрижанням перегрітого трансформатора, байдужим потріскуванням лічильника, лагідним голосом, який шепоче крізь перешкоди у
слухавці, луною сигналів тривоги, спалахами та тінями химерної природи. Тишу не можна почути, але її зернисті текстури дозволяють зазирнути у палаючі очі трансформаторів, почути їхню тріскотливу музику.

Енергомор звучить обстрілами інфраструктури, мовби луною геноциду проти цілої нації.

Та пломінь цей безжалісний і ярий,
Що замість крові венами тече,
Лише додасть свободи нам і жару.
Адже «вогонь запеклих не пече».
