Black Clocks began in November 2004 as demos for a "real" band that never materialized, effectively making it my first solo project. The demo songs were released on Soundclick and shared with a few friends.
At the time of the demos I was wholly unaware anyone was doing "digigrind" or "cybergrind" or whatever, (though I suppose the same can be said for c@'s "c@ Winter 2"). When c@'s "copy" was being recorded, but before BgO existed, I remembered the project and figured it would be a fun way to do some music with a more synth oriented sound.
There was other music for this project and plans to play a show or two, but ultimately the project faded away peacefully less than a full year after its birth.
Mysterious Friend Label was founded in 2009 to manufacture and distribute Bubblegum Octopus albums.
Currently, the label continues to operate in this capacity and to digitally distribute defunct, one-off, and oddity side projects of Matthew "m@ the c@" Morden.
