Mutsa Mudeka grew up in a family of musicians. At the age of 11 she joined the Idwala Elikulu. This musical ensemble had its glory days in the early nineties.
She later performed as backing vocalist and dancer for Ephat Mujuru, before joining Thomas Mapfumo's Blacks Unlimited. Early 2000 she started her solo career with Vadiwa Band. The band performed regurarly in Zimbabwe and recorded 2 albums.
