Sailing Dream from Sailing Dreams by Muriel Anderson
I had a dream that I was at the helm of Bryan’s boat, sailing over a big wave, then later in the dream I could hear music playing in my head. I thought, “This is a gift!” Sure enough, when I woke, I could remember the melody, lyrics, two guitars, one with banjo-like fills, bass, drums and a lovely voice that sounded quite like Suzy Bogguss. I had met Suzy in the studio many years ago when she was recording an album with Chet Atkins. It so happened I bumped into her again just as I was thinking about how to recreate the song. I was so happy when she agreed to sing the part. It’s nearly exactly the way it sounded, complete with Alison Brown on banjolin. I did change two words in the first verse and parts of the second verse, so along with the lady in my dream, I consider myself co-writer of the song “Sailing Dream.”
