HYPERSTITION by Mathilde Fernandez
HYPERSTITION is the second EP of Mathilde Fernandez.
In this new record, she quits the glamorous style of her first EP «Live in Las Vegas» to dive us into a darker mood. «Mon Dieu», the last title of the previous EP, hints at this passage to a darker and more synthetic era.
It is on this transition that the musical influences of Hyperstition, more cold wave and progressive, reveal a new facet of Mathilde Fernandez.
She paints a portrait of a hypersensitive character. A clairvoyant but paranoid («Presentiment, Premonitions») incarnation kind of Joan of Arc 2.0, a video game heroin.
The title «Où es tu», dissipates the whole in the meanders of uncertainty, calling for a better, luminous future.
There follow two remixes of the single «Oubliette» proposed by the french producer Perez, with whom Mathilde has already collaborated for the title «Walhalla», and by Paul Seul, founding member of the Parisian crew Casual Gabberz who proposes here a Gabber version, closing Hyperstition on a twilight digital landscape between explosive kick and dreamlike soundscapes.
