Mark Mills' fourth studio album, ‘Be Okay’, was born out of some of the most painful moments of the reckoning that followed. It is a masterful synthesis of pure sorrow, troubling thoughts, sly insight and danceable grooves. Mills channeled the energy of his lowest moments into startlingly raw lyrics, using the process of creation as both a therapeutic exercise and a lifeline to carry on. Mills enlisted friends Mike Wallace (Preoccupations, Viet Cong, Women) and Colin Cowan (Elastic Stars) to help him venture into bold new sonic territory, resulting in a heavier, grungier take on the effortless earworms of his past. The result, still featuring his signature ear for melody, is a striking work of avant-pop.
