Lyrics
Seventeen, seventeen, you’ll always be just seventeen.
Your body’s old and your blood’s flown cold
But you’ll always be just seventeen.
A grin from ear to ear
That almost looks just like a sneer
With long spidery hands.
People are afraid of what they don’t understand.
Instead of sleeping sound in bed
He’d rather be defacing houses instead
Completing missions in the night
To distract from the pain, to feel alright.
Seventeen, seventeen, you’ll always be just seventeen.
Your body’s old and your blood’s flown cold
But you’ll always be just seventeen.
In a beemer he built with his dad
He drives and drives
To hide the fact he’s painfully shy.
But he’s got a nice life, has many friends
And financially his parents always seem to meet ends.
Intelligent beyond his years
Dogs being one of his biggest fears.
Chemical brothers pounding in his ears
Makes it hard for him to hear.
Seventeen, seventeen, you’ll always be just seventeen.
Your body’s old and your blood’s flown cold
But you’ll always be just seventeen.
But what nobody noticed was how bad he hurt
Or checked in the cupboards to find empty bottles of St John’s Wort
Or the indicators he was using self harm
The lacerations cut deep into his arm
When one day he decided it all was too much
And held his dad’s pistol tightly in his clutch
He was sick of all of it, sick of pain
Which must have been why he decided to blow his brains
Seventeen, seventeen, you’ll always be just seventeen.
Your body’s old and your blood’s flown cold
But you’ll always be just seventeen.
