Look how we almost made but we didn’t, felt what we didn’t we did.

Remember when that night we hid, between the vestiges of what we did?
I tried to memorize your face, knowing that maybe it might be erased.

Look how we almost lost what we couldn’t, found what we shouldn’t we would.
Look now we almost have what we didn’t, kept what we didn’t we did.

I’m trapped beneath a broken rhyme. I know the words but cannot make them mine.
I think if I don’t lose my mind, this heart will lose the beat but keep the time.
