Ceremony is comprised of two beautifully composed and impeccably patient pieces by Dash Lewis. I’ve been a fan for a while, so I’m extra happy to help release what amounts to a Gardener “live album” of sorts—recordings of his lush modular and vocal workouts performed in the moment and on view to the public—with all of the immediacy and natural space that comes with this kind of intimate live situation. Ceremony doesn’t seem to focus as much on quiet/loud as it does in being able to create slow, subtle buildups and intricate moments beneath and within the cacophony. A meditative and moving collection of sounds that linger long after each side has finished. An edition of 50 home-dubbed Type II/Chrome cassettes with full-color, double sided artwork by Cory Malnarick.
