'musicographisme_2' is new project based on ‘Koyaanisqatsi’ (1982), soundtrack composed by Philip Glass from experimental film directed by Godfrey Reggio.
This documentary combines slow-motion and time-lapse footage with a minimalist and repetitive musical language. This exploration of images and sounds, describes different relationship’s perspectives between humans, nature and technology.
A proposal to print unique editions will be based on this musical work using a principle of repetition called the ostinato.
The use of this rhythmic and melodic system, directly linked to the functioning of the spirit duplicator, will lead to a graphic and editorial reflection perceptible on paper, visually reinterpreting this element of composition.
Maycec invited, for this second session, the artist Damien Sayer for a free adaptation of this musical creation, stored on audio cassette.
les éditions musicographiques are linked to 'musicographisme', an editorial performance project addressing the relation between music and graphic design founded by Maycec.
les éditions musicographiques are composed of unique publications printed with a spirit duplicator, reminding of the mechanism of any automatophone, alongside a music piece played by various artists in a live performance.
