Deli by Leo Sidney

Deli was recorded over the course of 15 months from April of 2020-July of 2021. It started at an apartment in Allston, MA and was primarily recorded in a converted garage in Los Angeles, CA. Additional recording took place at Oscar Free's Studio and 38 Fresh Studio. The recording was a learning process and a labor of love that produced extreme highs and frustrating lows. Each song took a very long time and most of them didn't make perfect sense until they were properly chipped away at. Deli is at its heart about finding the joy and light in dark shades and situations that are not exactly ideal. It is about accepting who one is while also pushing forward and opening doors that may seem scary or daunting.

Deli would not have been possible without enormous contributions from Oscar Friedman who has been a guiding light throughout every step of the music making process as a friend and maker of music.

It is essential to thank Michael Doughty & Jack Gorman for their musical ideas & tips as well as Josh Papernik & Ilene Kaufman who at various points provided essential insight that helped keep me on the right track musically & otherwise.

Special Thanks to Mike Greene & Oscar Friedman for the use of their studios, and to Ronnie Kaufman for letting me create a studio of sorts.

Special thanks also to Lije Morgan & Marion Moseley for creating incredible artwork and helping me to understand the tone of Deli.

Huge thanks to Christopher Ware, without whom this music probably would not have come out til the birth of my first child.

To Ilene, David, Bella, Sophia & Ronnie who in some way or another I communicated about this process with every single day. Thank you endlessly.

Lastly thank you to the friends and family who heard me out and believed in my ideas. Who supported me and have understood the ups and downs of what I've been trying to do and have always been gentle and kind when the going is tough. The names are too many to write here but the gratitude is bottomless and without all of you this music would never have been finished and my pursuit of music would probably have never been realized.
