Bigfoot Black Metal is real!
"Skookum" is yet another mysterious Black Metal band which focuses on the legends of wild men. For hundreds of years, and all over the world, people have reported strange encounters in remote forests, with tall hairy beasts walking on two legs. Wether they are called Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Skunk Ape, Yowie, Yeti, Almasty or Almas, Yeren or Troll, sightings continue to this day...
Skookum depicts a feeling: being lost in rugged terrain and deep forests, and witnessing something unkown in the distance. The feeling of being watched and overwhelmed by fear. Thus it takes the shape of very primitive and raw black metal as it is the most suitable form of expression for these emotions. Come witness the birth of sasquatch Black Metal!
Note: vocals are inspired by the infamous Sierra Sounds and what is know as "samurai chatter".
(In the early 1970s, Al Berry and Ron Morehead went into the woods of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in eastern California and collected a series of alleged Bigfoot vocalizations)
Skookum means "evil god of the woods" in native Chinook language.
