Lyrics
I walk down the street that I usually walk along.
The people I meet, yeah they usually talk a lot
about themselves and about the lives that they lead,
so I keep walking to the store and I buy some weed
cause I live in Portland.
And if you know me then you know that I talk too much
about selfish things that I shouldn't really bring about
in conversation. It is time for me to face my situation,
which is that I'm a disgrace and I'm livin' in Portland.
I ring all the bells in a belfrey that sounds a bit
like Oscar the Grouch banging bones on a trash can lid
or maybe it's me when I beat on my drum kit
after a few beers when I'm feelin' all drunk and shit.
I'm living in Portland. The sunset is nice tonight.
I think it's important to take a nice slice of life and
eat all your food so dessert you can have some more.
I go to the beach and I put my feet on the shore.
I'm sure that I'll find something better to do with my time
if I can find you and you won't feel so blue inside.
I'm living in Portland. I'm living in Portland.
I sit on the porch and say hi cause I think it's important to greet a passerby.
In this gray world where the truth is not black or white
I hope we can all find a better way to spend our time
away from the hate. Oh I think it would be great
to share a good joke with you. Let's make it a date or two.
We're living in Portland.
At the open mic where I usually sing and play,
It's right down the street, just a hop, skip and jump away.
The people get up on the stage and they play again,
just like the week before with the support of a friend
that's living in Portland.
