“I'd like to dedicate this work to my oldest brother Greg who, 6 years my senior, blazed many of the paths that I took an interest in, and that I still wander about on. Standing in the kitchen one day, 14 and belligerent, I announced to my family that I was quitting piano lessons. Greg calmly responded that No, I was not going to do that and the reasons why. He was perhaps the only person who could have convinced me of that, and for his opposition that day I am eternally grateful.
