"For me, the guitar is a unique and incomparable self-hypnosis" says Kēpa as he opens his guitar case. "Space-time stretches, and it invites me to travel every day" he adds with a smile.
Kēpa evolves his playing, and still takes us into his universe, but explores new paths, including that of minimalism, to leave room for space, this time with a purely instrumental repertoire, inspired by surf music, skateboarding and western spaghetti.
An adept of the "picking" technique, he divides his right hand in two to play rhythm and melody at the same time, giving the illusion of several guitars.
"I pick up my guitar and see where it takes me... Lately it's often been in nice, simple, uncluttered places."
Steel-sliding strings define Kepa’s dynamic post-modern folk blues, as his one man jug-band approach hinges around the picks, slides and hammers he twangs all the way from Bask Country, France. His sound brings a dynamic, blues-inspired mix of baritone resonator guitar, foot-stomping, singing and harmonica; melting rhythms into a hypnotic, cinematic sound.
