She’s lived in three different countries
Perhaps she’s here to stay
In South America
Where the wind sweeps up from the bay

With her young man she drinks wine
And works late into the night
Marches the streets for a natural world
That can’t put up its own fight

I’m just walking down the road
Trying my best to be me
These are the women
That inspire my journey

One lives only in the past
Walking the chalk downs
She could tell you the name of every flower
When spring came around
We’d flock to her in winter
When we had a family
It’s a shame we all got scattered
When she had to leave

Journey well she wrote
Journey well, wherever you go
Journey well she wrote
Found that note in a drawer of summer clothes

Another has been there forever
Since I first put my feet in the sand
Watched her laugh, watched her cry
Sometimes at my own hand
Her green eyes will understand you
No matter who you are
She’ll listen to your story
To your hopes, and your heart
