SLUG is the new ambient folk album from Tape Deck Mountain songwriter Travis Trevisan. Recorded last fall in Nashville, Tennessee, SLUG embodies a spaciousness in its use of endless filters of loops to create a fresh-air “folk soundscape” listening experience. Above the ambience, Trevisan's alto soars in exploration of new sonic territories for a voice better known by its witty and biting word play. “A week after the recent US election,” says Trevisan, “I was numb and at a loss for words. I took a break from the Facebook ranting and raving, and decided to hug it out for a moment with SLUG.”
SLUG will be released 01/30/17 via Mouca (EU) and 02/24/17 on cassette via Land Animal Tapes (US) and on CD via Nineteen98 (US).
Written and recorded by Travis Trevisan at AptBB in Nashville, TN, 11/9/16. Layout by Aaris K.

"While Trevisan is no stranger to noise, SLUG finds him spending time with ambient folk soundscapes. Gone is the wall of reverb and instead filtered loops build on each other. It’s a quieter, more contemplative listen and one that would seem antithetical to what inspired it." - Post-Trash
"You might recognise the name Travis Trevisan as the songwriter behind Nashville-based shoegaze project Tape Deck Mountain. Not happy confined to the single creative outlet, Trevisan releases music under his own name that fits into something closer to an ambient-folk category, utilising loops and layers to create organic soundscapes which sound at once spacious and alive." - Wake the Deaf
"After the election, guitarist Travis Trevisan of Tennessee shoegaze group Tape Deck Mountain needed some respite from the stress of political news. So he recorded a half hour’s worth of meditative music, mixing guitar, voice, and effects, and called it Slug. There is a lot to get lost in during these six tracks, which are ambient but always moving, like waves of heat emanating from baked pavement. You can hear Trevisan’s plucks and strums from time to time; in one particularly moving tune, “Phoneicia,” he sings with a stoic grace akin to Codeine and Low. But most of Slug is abstract and enveloping, less about individual events than one unending sound. Hopefully Trevisan will find reasons to continue that sound across further releases, whether or not world events warrant it." - Bandcamp Daily
