The forms of small figures dancing
Dwarfed upon a great expanse frozen white
Ignorant about this bleak supernatural blight

With bated breath
They don’t know that they wait for death

Crumbling away
This life led me astray
Lost in a dream of spring
Condemned to Winter everlasting

Burnt cinders descend and coat the earth
Like a shroud of ash
A fitting grave for our broken past
Winter skies burn stronger than any flame
In death we feel it’s touch the same

Efflorescence, the soot-blackened ice forms frozen arcs
Now laying thick in the sky
Crystal shapes possess a beauty that mocks
The emptiness and dread in our hollow eyes

(Do you remember? How it felt back then?
The way the warmth washed over us?
With this childlike sense of wonder, this fervent passion?
It carried us past the sun, the moon, even the stars.
But it never lasts. The fire fades...the cold sets in.
The flame within us is reduced to an ember and scattered in the ashes of a dying world.
