Grace knocked me right to the floor
And, having no reason to settle a score
I left a note on the door
Wanting no feedback, or anything more
I don’t feel the need
To plant another seed

Grace didn’t know what she’d said
But it fell like a feather where I had once bled
Big dreams made up our bed
Pillows of fancy where I lay my head
And I don’t feel the need

Feast or famine, it’s the best of both worlds
The least examined is the prettiest pearl
Headlights shining right up to the moon
My silver lining will carry a tune

Grace gave from happy to sad
No one expected, it was all that she had
She told me, “Don’t say, goodnight, when you’re mad”
I’ll ease your heartache if you’re feeling bad
I don’t feel the need
To offer up my creed
When it all comes down
