Say Goodbye by Jezz Bold

Dear family and friends,

Happy Black Moon to you & best wishes from Taiwan! In case you don't know, the Black Moon is the second new moon in a single month, which happened in the Western Hemisphere on September 30th, 2016, and October 31st, 2016 here in the East.

In commemoration of this astronomical event, which is visually difficult to observe (ironic?), I am preparing a musical release. I am calling it the "Say Goodbye EP", which is some attempt to bid adieu to the fear of failure and hopelessness. Track 1 is an ambient intro, featuring some dissonant chords and imperfect timing; track 2 is the main feature, a poppy song with dark lyrics; and track 3 features a long reflection on futility, worries of impurity, and wondering how to live in a world that may never change.

It occurs to me that this has a few things to do with white supremacy, a culture in which white is pure & good and black is dirty & bad, and this release on the Black Moon feels like an appropriate moment to commemorate the resilience of people who continue to struggle against it despite any sense of futility in displacing this culture of domination. In particular, I hold in my heart the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and their allies who bravely stood up against the state of North Dakota who chose to protect the interests of a corporation over the people and our land.
