Interferences by James Bradbury

Interferences is the outcome of encountering electromagnetic sounds, ever-present in the world around us but only detectable to our ears through induction microphones and equipment. I recorded several hours of such sounds and deployed machine listening techniques to organise, structure and suggest to me ways in which these glacial, yet also detailed and intricate sound worlds could merge and meld with each other. The two tracks in this album are the result of this process, as well as the dialogue between my intuitions and the computer’s interpretation of this rich sound world.
