Nepcetaq from Inuksuk by Hertz & Mystified
Nepcetaq (Yup'ik) - The shaman masks vary enormously but are characterized by great invention. They are typically made of wood, and painted with few colors to depict various creatures and spirits. The shamans were the ones that told the carvers how to make the masks
that were utilized in storytelling, ceremonies, healing, and to grant good luck to hunts.
