III by Hyper Battle

The third and final episode of the Hyper Battle saga builds off the previous two chapters, distilling the sound with unique instrumentation, echoes of other worlds, banging drums and sizzling synths while following Cylo Hyper and Juno James to their ultimate conclusion in the search for the light of the galaxy.
The set starts off with 'Forever Ago', where acoustic guitars sparkle, ominous synths wail from the back to the fore and electric guitars shake the stadium, all over a syncopated drum beat as the track ebbs and flows, unfolding the action of the universe.
'Disposable Camera' is the Hyper Battle version of 'roots music'. Acoustic picking, banjo style, is featured alongside longing slide guitar, conjuring the desolation of space and the connection music brings us. Next, 'Path Wanderer', the most ambitious track here, features a simple guitar and piano countermelody that progresses into a breakdown with strings and synths intertwining as a universal epiphany is reached, culminating in an ecstatic electric guitar deluge.
'The Showdown' is the soundtrack to the big boss level to end all, capitalized with a wah clavinet lead, synthwave pads and steady drums.
And finally 'Axis Mundi' gives us final serenity, in knowledge of the connection of the cosmos and the earthly. A fitting end to the sonic journey of Hyper Battle.


"Jarvys’ wrister began to chirp. Cylo awoke slowly from his sleeping pod on the port side of the ship. He had finally gotten 8 hours of sleep after many months of being awoken by his dreams. Cylo picked up the wrister to turn off the alarm when he noticed the date: April 23rd, 2083. It was almost one year ago that he and June were moving down the east coast of the United States in their winnebago, traveling and looking for hope. Cylo walked into the galley to grab a coffee when he saw June sitting with a warm coffee and looking at a monitor connected to the table. “Can you believe it, Cy?” she asked in an excited but nervous tone. “We’re approaching the Mars colony base. We should be there in less than 48 hours.” ‘I can’t believe we’re almost there,’ said Cylo. ‘This doesn’t seem real. But nothing has seemed real in the last 5 years.’ Cylo picked up his coffee and sat next to June, looking at the screen with her. “We need to send a message out, but I don’t know to whom. When they see one of Ryvin’s ships getting close, they’re going to want to engage.”
‘See what frequency you can find that’s open, I’m sure someone there will want to hear from us when they see us getting closer to the base.’
“How did you sleep, Cy?”
‘Finally got a good sleep. I needed it.’
Cylo stretched his arms up, yawned, and then placed his hand on June’s shoulder.
‘I didn’t have any of my dreams last night. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t have a dream about Jar…’
June began to rub Cylo’s hand. “I know…all of this has been hard to process. It all feels…unreal. I still don’t know how we’re going to find Mom and your Dad, and if they are even there.”
‘Yeah, and I don’t know what we’re walking into. Ryvin and Sylvius could be there already waiting for us. We need to stick to our plan. Jarvys’ wrister has to work when we get in range. We can send a message to my Dad and your Mom.’
“I hope you’re right, Cy.”
Cylo kissed June on the head and went off to the front of the ship."
