Everywhere Alone by Hotel Artesia

Between 2021 and 2023, Kevin Wright (AKA Mr. Wright, Always, The Dreamers, The Party and The Guests, etc.) posted fourteen brilliant pop songs on YouTube with lo-fi videos featuring vignettes of him singing to the camera in a variety of settings, but always alone - Everywhere Alone.

Like most videos on YouTube, Kevin's songs, which he was releasing under the moniker of "Hotel Artesia" went largely unnoticed.

To the ears of Noah Wilson (AKA Mr. Muffins from Mr. and Mrs. Muffins) the songs were too good to let them fade away into YouTube obscurity. Having been a huge fan of Mr. Wright's output on Cherry Red, Él, Siesta, and Le Grand Magistery in the late '90s and early aughts, Noah had been in contact with Kevin over the years and decided to reach out to see if he would be interested in releasing his Hotel Artesia songs on vinyl.

The rest, as they say, is history, and the first album on Honey Muffins Records was born.

As we drift aimlessly into the dull grey of winter, these ten new songs by the master of introspective, existential pop offer a warm blanket for the soul. Devoid of pretense and absolutely removed from what any modern artists are trying to do, Kevin proves his songwriting prowess over and over again, easily producing his best material since his Le Grand Magistery days.
